GOVERNANCE SERVICES

Governance leaders have the highest impact and power-effect on people’s life, therefore it is very useful when they have a happy mindset.

Happiness Consulting carries secular and apostate values, which have the main aim of human quality development and overall happiness. We improve the happiness of both left and right wing parties without any extreme tendencies. Behind the concepts we have about the world’s processes and values resides the inner nature of our consciousness, which we address with open engaged awareness. This experience level of consciousness points behind the concepts, and between the thoughts. We are all human beings behind our concepts or bodily properties. Happiness and awareness is the same quality in all of us. Leading party or opposition, left or right, all may be inspired to apply happy mindset and awareness intelligence tools.

In order to build lasting happiness, a government shall build happiness on the stable and well placed building blocks of a humanistic, rational, secular, free and democratic system which applies the rule of law and protects human rights.

While handling the complexity of multi-societies and changing economies, leaders recognized that sustainability can only be achieved by adding well-being element to their priorities. Building a Well-being Society is a necessary basis of building a Happy & Aware Society.

Many countries started to measure well-being and happiness, though the measurement is not deeply connected to a development method. Happiness Consulting provides unique tools for interconnected and recursive measurement and development of well-being and happiness. Therefore, happiness and well-being, are measured and treated in all their domains and sub-domains respectively.

BUILDING BLOCKS OF A MODERN SOCIETY
– that enables to unfold sustainable happiness

Based on TeamFreiheit

In case the building blocks of humanistic thinking, rationality, secularity, democracy and human rights are well based on each other, then, on this basis, the well-being and happiness improvement of societies can bring a lasting result.

We take further the research and know-how of the organisation TeamFreihet, that defined European Values that emerged till current days, and based on the emerging trends within the organisations and societies we provide a a window with an outlook to the future.

Humanistic thinking has its roots in the Greek and Roman Antiquity. It changed the  “theocentric” world-view of the Middle Ages, in which human qualities were compared to nothingness, to the “anthropocentric” world-view of today by shifting the focus towards a human-centric world view and positive human qualities. Pagan religions with life sacrifices like Satanism became publicly opposed. The well-being of individual people increasingly became the focus of thought and action. This was the ancient source of inspiration of the Human Quality Movement.

Relying on humanistic thinking, Rationality evolved. A rationalist bases his/her philosophical explanation of the world primarily on reasonable conclusions. Reason becomes the ultimate source of decision. Rationality includes the ability to unmask arguments as being false even when they are explained in religious scriptures. Linked with the Greek tradition of logical debate, in the Age of Enlightenment, Descartes and other philosophers and scientists based their thinking on reason and rationality. They applied reason to all areas of everyday life, exposing superstition and starting a scientific revolution.

Secularity appeared from the blossoming tendency of reasoning which started to unfold by Rationality. Secularity means to separate public and religious bodies by law – the separation of politics and religion, of state and church. If religion possesses political and social power, science becomes a threat to this power: if science with its accumulated knowledge can reveal that a religious dogma is illogical, the religious rulers lose all legitimization for their regulations and laws. Only the strict separation of worldly and religious power can assure that science can work freely and become able to support the development of our society. A great caution is needed at this point assuring that even though the information revealed by science are true, science shall not try to force its statements on people, harm their emotions or make them feel uncomfortable – like it happens many times in case Scientology. Secularity secures that religious laws and worldly laws are separated. Religion and religious laws became private matter, worldly laws became the official basis of a country’s governance.

The modern Rule of law has its origin within the philosophy of the times of Enlightenment. The initial breakthrough was made during the French revolution in the 18th century. It represents justice through secular laws and contributions, and it is synonymous with “freedom of state”. Rule of law is based on separation of powers, that means the separation of authorities (legislation, executive, jurisdiction) and involves for the citizen as a individual a security mechanisms, that all three governmental bodies control and check one another at all times, thus preventing misuse and misfeasance of the respective power. An independent authority watches over these exact rights and also over possible denials or violation. This also means that the individual can appeal to this legal authority to enforce his/her own rights. Rule of law applies the same laws on everyone without double standard, and on the other hand every citizen is equally entitled to make use of it – claiming their legal rights -. Freedom of speech, gender equality and freedom of religion are one of the most precious values and laws of democracy.

Democracy is the term for a political system where sovereignty is based and relies on the will of the people and where the government is accountable to the people. Representatives are periodically elected by the people in free elections. It has a democratic constitution. Due to high level of freedom of opinion it includes the existence of an opposition. The most perfected level of democracy – in countries like Switzerland, where people’s awareness, responsibility and intelligence level is high -, is direct democracy with participation of all layers of society.

Human rights shall be a universal law accepted by democratic countries, made by people for people. The aim is to lead people towards more humanistic, more positive views and therefore give a greater opportunity to more happy views, value systems, interaction styles and behaviour. It must be based on universally positive morals, ethics and values, which are measured and evaluated not based on a double standard or hidden agendas, but on publicly agreed norms.

Human rights and human development are based on human values.

Happiness Consulting has its roots in the wonderful cultural value system of the European continent, and in the same time it is aware, that each continent and each nation has its own history, own culture, own values and the level of development along global human values. Still, European values play an important role within global human values.

Happiness Consulting operates only on those countries which have made these steps already, or their governance leaders ask our advice about taking these steps.

According to the popular saga, the King’s daughter Europa was abducted and seduced by the greek God Zeus who had taken on the shape of a bull. Since that time the roles have changed. The daughters of Europa has turned into knowledgeable, moral, social, creative, transparent, empathic, aware, independent and free women who has learned to tame the “godly” bull, being an example of the hierarchical, dogmatic dominance of raw male forces. Interestingly, both are more happy in the new marriage better than the previous.
Governance leaders have recognized, that even though the structure of the system is built up well, without the core socio-cultural ingredients, a society cannot develop and unfurl its resilience and positive living standards. It is like to prepare a dish without its core ingredients and spices. The core ingredient of life is the healthy feeling of physical, social and mental well-being. This provides sustainability for all that has been built up in our cultures sofar.

Today, more than forty countries measure some form of well-being or happiness. It is a very reasonable factor. More than 80% of the voters of UK want their government to make them more happier, instead of richer. The time of GDP can only be sustained by implementing the views of GNH. In the same time, private sphere researches show, that the main concern of the CEOs is to find and keep the best talents, by keeping them content and engaged. The most important factor in their decision making is to be aware of the different factors that are needed for the conscious leadership. Governance leaders face the same factors, just in a higher / broader scale.
Happiness Consulting helps governance leaders to place the coping stone of happiness, happy mindset & awareness intelligence on its right place.

To be able to do that, one has to manage to handle the complexity of the society.
Handling complexity in governance means, that while we are holding the view of achieving the highest good for the most people possible for the longest possible, we use empathic and wise tools along global human values.

HANDLING COMPLEXITY
of Multi-Societies, changing economies and value systems

Societies work in a similar way as public limited corporations, though on a much more complex level. The development of company leadership styles and the development of societies are representing each other.

Societies shift from the simple model of Agricultural Societies based on farming to Industrial Societies by using machines and management of capital. Industrial Societies shift to Information Societies by utilizing software and internet which connects people / economies, provides the unlimited range of information and ubiquity of the blur economy. The easy access of information triggers ideas and unfolds faster and wider prosperity of the economy. To extract the essence, societies shift to Knowledge Societies by focusing on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and intangible value (e.g. the availability of the Client’s personal data in sales processes).

The role of today’s modern Governments is to manage all elements of Multi-Societies. Due to the demand to be able to have the eagle’s view on processes and tendencies in a multi-cultural environment, some societies – like e.g. Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Iceland, Austria and New Zealand – have started to shift the last few years to become a Well-being Society. These Societies can unfold their full development by stepping into the sustainability element (sustainable engagement called well-being) of Happy Mindset.

Their policy makers and social multipliers shall base the system of their society on the stabile ground and building blocks of societies, that are Humanistic thinking, Secularity, Rationality, Rule of law, Democracy and Human rights. Their leaders have to have the good morals to find wise and empathic solutions of people’s well-being even in a condition of increasing numbers of population.

The values of the societies on this development level make it able to differentiate between concepts and select the right KPIs to measure, by having the holistic and bright overview of habitual and cultural tendencies and values. The economy considers sustainability, not only the immediate profitability but also the long-term aspects of productivity as well. The understanding appears to not only focus on the technology and technical skills but also the human skills and qualities as well.

A more human system and processes significantly increase the chance, that the collective life contentment level of the population becomes higher. A happy person has about 31% higher life contentment. Life contentment (or life satisfaction) is also effected by GDP PPP, though the Easterlin paradox showed to the happiness economists, that above a certain level of income (USA 75.000 USD/ year, UK 45.000 GBP/year), the level of happiness and well-being stagnates or even decreases while the average income increases. A company with highly engaged people has 19% higher earnings as the one with average engagement, and 50% higher than a low engagement company. Shifting people from extrinic to intrinsic motivation worths the best on the long term for everyone.

Those companies who recognised that high engagement without burn-out can only be sustained by well-being elements - on physical, social and mental level -, have double as much operating profit than the ones who did not apply them. Happy Organisations perform even better. The overall performance and productivity of the companies add up GDP (Gross Domestic Product).

The GNH (Gross National Happiness) of Bhutan or the GDW (Gross Domestic Well-being) view of UK ensures from the beginning that processes have the maximum efficiency and sustainability right at their start. The GDP and the GNH view meets at the 'bridge' of sustainability.

Happiness and life contentment does not depend mainly in the external conditions – as people thought till today -, but it depends on internal conditions, that is the happy mindset of people. A more humanistic system is supportive, though it is only the half of the game; the other half is one’s own happy mindset. Happy mindset costs less and results higher productivity than unhappy mindset, and it is a guarantee of sustainability.

Increasing GDP can lead to the most wanted decrease in the ratio of GDP/National Debt as well, enabling the nation’s independence and freedom.

When a society reaches to enter the level of a Well-being Society, the next step to focus is to widen overall happiness and awareness; to become a Happy & Aware Society. Happy mindset highly depends on awareness intelligence, the ability to recognise our feelings, thoughts and processes inwardly and outwardly.

Awareness Intelligence (AQ) leads to a wider recognition of economical and socio-political patterns, and in the same time brings simplicity in decision-making. A Happy & Aware Society focuses on what really matters, makes work and life more enjoyable. In the same way as Well-being Societies depend on wise and empathic people that care about inner and outer sustainability, a Happy & Aware Society is built by people with happy mindset and awareness intelligence.

The most effective way of developing is to start with a representative assessment, continue with data evaluation, consultation, strategy formation, which in turn blossoms in a tailor-made implementation.

HAPPINESS MEASUREMENT of societies

Organising, harmonising, fitting value systems

- to match the development, motivation and leadership styles to that people are looking for

We apply a value systems analysis meta-model, that serves as a basis for a development methodology. It measures the availability and weight of the different types of individual or social values that show people’s preferences on the style and values of their life and work.

The aim of a society development is to proceed with factors that are most fitting to people's needs and to use a leadership style that is fitting to it.

Example:

People who are looking for sustainability of their engagement or solutions for climate change can not be motivated by corporate shares; they can be motivated by health or green behaviour related benefits. People with these values can be led by sittig together with them at one table as being equal - leadership that uses external motivation do not impress them.

The value systems' assessment is applied to match the development, motivation and leadership styles of groups and societies, and to plan the desired development directions based on the 'center of gravity' of the different value levels. A society's goal is to unfold the upper values of development, ensuring inner and outer human development.

Gross National Happiness (GNH) and Well-being (GNW)

Money can’t buy happiness – or?

Life contentment (or life satisfaction) is effected by GDP PPP, though the Easterlin paradox showed that it is not in the level as expected. Happiness economists convey that above a certain level of income (USA 75.000 USD/ year, UK 45.000 GBP/year), the level of overall happiness and the level of the correlating nation-wide life contentment stagnates or even decreases while the average income of the population increases.Even though income has an effect on happiness – and especially the lack of income -, the effect of a wealth increase on happiness increase is much less than we thought - especially in societies we call modern societies -. The “hedonistic rat race”-approach of life and work – the focus on limitless ‘wants’ over the ‘needs’ connected with non-consideration of the surrounding stakeholders and environment –, and the Darwinist “fight or flight for your survival”-approach does not bring lasting, sustainable happiness for any of the stakeholders. On the individual level we see, that an increase in income has an effect on life satisfaction, though it is a very slight one. How can it be that the national average data of happiness is time-to-time decreasing and the individual’s data is slightly increasing only? The reason is the diversification of the income. Rich get richer, and as numbers show the poor get more poorer.

The following charts show the life satisfaction and happiness of people of the United States of America.

Global experience of economics and social sciences show, that individual profit optimisation can only get a meaning when it is sustainable. It is best achieved by harmonisation of the relationships of the stakeholders, protection and balanced recreation and distribution of resources with long-term perspective and care. A sustainable and well-functioning mutual living is the interest of the individual, its family, its community and its nation as well. In a well-being society morality and transparency in business, politics and life becomes essential. The happiness of the society is based on its overall physical, social and mental well-being. The first step is to check if the building blocks of a modern society are available, then to measure the current status of the population’s contentment level, their engagement, well-being (GNW) and happiness (GNH).

Well-known experts about GNH

Robert Kennedy pointed out in his prescient 1968 speech at the University of Kansas, GNP is a terrible way to measure what is important: “Gross national product counts air pollution and cigarette advertising, and ambulances to clear our highways of carnage. It counts special locks for our doors and the jails for the people who break them. It counts the destruction of the redwood and the loss of our natural wonder in chaotic sprawl. It counts napalm and counts nuclear warheads and armored cars for the police to fight the riots in our cities. But it fails to measure the health of our children, intelligent public debate, integrity, compassion. In short, it measures everything except that which makes life worthwhile."

Adrien White, University of Leicester, UK – World Map of Happiness: “81% of the UK population think the Government should focus on making us happier rather than wealthier."

Abraham Maslow: "If you have only a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail. "We have been fooled by a tool." "GDP has been our hammer."

Joseph Stiglitz talks about going beyond GDP

“What you measure effects what you do.”

Worldwide experts about Gross Domestic Happiness “What do we want to be Nr.1. in?”

Today, while more than 40 countries measure well-being or happiness, there is a general lack of connection of the survey data to the decision making process and the society development based on the results in general.

Happiness Consulting provides well tested GNH assessment method - that includes GNW -.

GNH Assessment of Happiness Consulting

Happiness Consulting's national happiness assessment is built up on happy mindset. It involves the measurement of one's integrity to system around, the levels of contentment, engagement and well-being on physical & physiological, social & interpersonal and mental & psychological levels. It is topped by measuring happiness about past (evaluative happiness / life satisfaction), present (experienced happiness) and future (expected happiness / optimism). These are all covered in their respective weight in happy mindset assessment with some special additional factors.

The GNH assessment performed by Happiness Consulting is a happy mindset based assessment. It's KPIs are essential to measure the most important factors of human development. As people looking for happiness more than wealth, this provides them exactly what they need.

Happy Country Program

With the Happy XYCountry Program we launch a chain of Train the Trainer trainings (TT) held for the selected trainers of the government and public offices.
The government shall start Happy Mindset Trainings within its own circle, and than spread it out to public offices, state owned companies and the market.
Within 2-3 years time a country can achieve to train sufficient number of Master Black Belt and Black Belt Trainers. Within this time frame, they can train Happy Mindset & Awareness Intelligence Trainings to the 10% of the population, including social multipliers and key decision makers. They will hold an unshakable belief in happiness and awareness, being thankful and loyal to those who provided the training to them, and their beliefs will be adopted by the majority of the society.

In case the government proportionally supports the market participants to implement happiness within their organizations, even if they apply it for their own good, their productivity will increase, that helps the financial numbers of the country, saves on healthcare related costs, and especially increases the general happiness of people – the aspect what they expect from the government to do.

To those leaders of a Government Offices that intend to implement happiness deeply within their offices and expand the opportunity to all of the country’s citizens, we provide all the help and support needed to proceed it – presentations, assessments, trainings and consulting –.
